Low FODMAP Client Handout — Free Editable Template for Dietitians

Almost every low FODMAP handout in circulation is a two-column list of safe and forbidden foods. That structure is the error. Monash's traffic light rating applies to a serving size, not to a food, so a binary list throws away the only information the client actually needed.
This one is built the other way round. It leads with portion dependence, uses avocado at 30, 45 and 80 grams as the worked example, and gives a table of ten commonly avoided foods with the serving at which they are genuinely low — half a cup of wheat pasta, one slice of wholemeal bread, a tablespoon of chickpeas. It covers all three phases with current Monash durations, gives the reintroduction protocol properly, including the fact that fructans need more than one challenge, and corrects the usual myths about garlic oil, table sugar, dairy, gluten and bananas.
It is a companion to the process rather than a food reference. A client working through elimination will still need a current food list — the Monash app or an equivalent you trust — and your own guidance alongside it. What this does is explain the shape of the three phases, why portion size is the whole game, and why the diet is meant to end.
Six pages in Word. Four client-facing pages plus two practitioner pages you delete before it goes out, carrying the evidence grading, the honest response-rate figures, the eating disorder screening question and full sourcing — so you know exactly what is behind every claim without hedging the client copy into uselessness.
